July 28: The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

Long before saving the earth became a global concern, Dr. Seuss, speaking through his character the Lorax, warned against mindless progress and the danger it posed to the earth’s natural beauty.

“The big, colorful pictures and the fun images, word plays and rhymes make this an amusing exposition of the ecology crisis.”—School Library Journal.

The Lorax is best for ages 4-10, but all children are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian.

August 18: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
by Mildred D. Taylor (best for ages 9-13)

You can then buy the books in the Stowe Museum Store. Visit www.harrietbeecherstowecenter.org for directions.
