The Homeownership Incentive Program (HIP) provides financial incentives to employees from Hartford Hospital, Trinity College and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to purchase a home. Each institution has its own criteria.

Hartford Hospital
5 Step Procedure:
Step 1: Complete application and send it to the Human Resource Office (located at 195 Retreat Avenue) with a pre-approval letter from your lender. There it will get stamped with the date and time of receipt and checked for eligibility.

Step 2: If approved, your application will be forwarded to SINA. Within a few days, you will be contacted by the HIP Manager (Dean Iaiennaro, SINA’s Director of Real Estate Development) with a response to your eligibility. If you were not approved, you will be contacted by the HR Department.
Step 3: You will then have 60 days from date you are notified of your approval to locate an eligible home (within the target area) and obtain a signed purchase and sale agreement. After 60 days, you will need to re-apply and begin the process again.
Step 4: In 14 days in advance or your closing date, you will need to provide the HIP manager with the name and address of your attorney as well as your Social Security number.
Step 5: Before closing takes place, a check in the incentive amount (currently $10,000) will be paid jointly to you and your closing attorney.

Neighborhoods in the southern section of Hartford that encompass but are not exclusive to the neighborhoods of Frog Hollow, South Green or Barry Square.
